In late July/early August I visited Madagascar (coincidentally about as far away from Seattle as you can get and still keep your feet dry) for an Earthwatch project, "Carnivores of Madagascar". After a few days in the capital, Antananarivo, I traveled north to the Ankarafantsika National Park where, along with seventeen other volunteers, we helped the project staff with a number of conservation and community activities.
