The project team included eighteen volunteers from around the world, plus about the same number of US and local research and support staff.
We stayed in tents in a very nice camp, just off the main road. With no electricity, save for a couple of hours while the generator was running, we saw magnificent night skies.
Meals were provided by ladies from a local village who also provided a much-needed laundry service. After dinner each evening there'd be some activity in the camp building . . . Malagasy language lessons, presentations from other researchers or Peace Corps volunteers, sing-alongs, parties, and even a screening of the movie "Madagascar".
